ii.   The Group

The same depth,
held collectively.

Raízes — Portuguese for roots — is for women who want to do this work in the company of other women. Not a group therapy. Not a workshop. Something older: a gathering, held twice a year, where eight women come together to go inward at the same time.

Something particular happens when women move through this together. The roots deepen differently in a circle. You witness yourself in someone else's experience. You let yourself be witnessed. That, too, is a practice.

The work is the same depth as The Return. The container is shared. The journey is still your own.

iii.

How the gathering unfolds

Each cohort runs for twelve weeks. Below is the arc — though every circle finds its own rhythm, its own pace, its own particular kind of quiet.

01
Weeks 1 – 3
Settling In

Arrival

We begin with the body and with breath. The group forms slowly. Women arrive, introduce themselves to themselves as much as to each other, and we establish the container — what can be held here, and how.

02
Weeks 4 – 6
What We Carry

The Weight

We name what has been heavy. In the presence of other women, the naming is less isolating. Something loosens. We are not alone in any of this — and that knowledge, all on its own, changes things.

03
Weeks 7 – 9
Finding Ground

The Roots

Underneath the weight: stillness, instinct, the part of each woman that has always known. We practice finding it in ourselves — and recognizing it in each other. A particular kind of mirroring begins.

04
Weeks 10 – 12
Closing

Rooted

We close the container — not the work. Women leave Raízes with a foundation, and with each other. Many of these circles continue long after the twelve weeks are done.

iv.   Is this for you?

Raízes is for the woman
who wants to go inward
in company.

"I almost didn't sign up because I worried it would feel like a group session where we all talk about our feelings. It was nothing like that. It was quiet and real and I didn't expect to feel less alone in my own body."

— Mariana C., Lisbon

  • You want to do this work, and you know you want company while you do.
  • You feel less alone in a room of women who have decided to tell the truth.
  • You are drawn to something with a beginning, a middle, an end — and a circle to hold it.
  • You are ready to witness and be witnessed, without performing either.
  • The 1:1 speaks to you, but the group calls louder.
  • You sense that being seen by other women is part of what needs to happen.

What women say

I came expecting a workshop and found a reckoning. Something in me settled that I hadn't realised was still restless. I left knowing exactly one thing: that I had been right to come.

— Sofia A., Madrid

The group was small enough that you couldn't hide, and safe enough that you didn't want to. That's a hard thing to build. Camila built it in the first session.

— Renata F., São Paulo
